Bastion of Reason

I was on the highway recently in post-workday traffic. I observed the following with amazement and gratitude that I survive this scene daily.

I observed traffic slowing and stopping ahead of me on a loop that was merging onto another highway. Speed limit was 55. Cars are flying past me at least 65 mph. Hellooo. Does ANYONE look ahead when driving? Does any of you bitches who complain about the $4/gal gas price care that you wasting a sh*tload of gas by accelerating only to stop shortly at the last possible minute? Don't cry about it anymore, you obviously don't care that much.

Also, you can't see slowed traffic in front of you because you are either on the phone OR really in your head (I do this...but usually am at a standstill in traffic) and are are obtuse and oblivious.
I can almost hear the collective thoughts of everyone racing ahead:
"Gotta pick up the kids at practice."
"I deserve to make happy hour at least once this week."
"I just want to get home before 7 PM for a change."

Well guess what kiddies? None of you goes nowhere when you're all attempting to be first of the stack interchange.

You could be first to wreck (Aww. That means you get home way after 7 PM).

You could be the first cripple to survive an accident as a handicap (That makes it really hard to pick up the kids from practice).

You could be the first fatal accident on that off ramp. (No happy hour for you).

At best, you almost all wreck in effort to simultaneously merge and make yourselves later than you already were. What!? You thought you were the only car in the vicinity? Invisible? Um...no. That's what your review mirrors and defensive driving lessons are for...try to make use of them.

Thanks.
